  GNY Employee Volunteers Time and Talents

Terryanne Gagliano is a rater in GNY's East Brunswick office. She has worked at GNY for a little over 4 years.

TerryAnne volunteers her time and talent with 2 groups that are close to her heart. One is "Heavenly Angels". This group provides items such as blankets, hats, booties, going home outfits and AngelGowns to local hospital Neo-natal Intensive Care Units.(NICU).  These are gifts for the babies and their families.

She also belongs to the Catholic Womens organization called The Columbiettes. This is the sister organization to the Knights of Columbus.  The main focus of this organization is to promote Christian moral & family values within the community.  They participate in many charitable projects, such as food drives for local soup kitchens; donations of much-needed toiletry & clothing items to local mens & womens shelters; backpacks full of school supplies for children of struggling families; collecting pop-tabs for Ronald McDonald House, monetary support for various local charities; and supporting the Parish and Community in many other ways.

GNY Employees Volunteer for Habitat for Humanity Raritan Valley Habitat for Humanity held a Mother's Day Women Build May 8, 2010 in Bridgewater, NJ.  Kathleen Zarzycki and Jody Zotolla from the IT department participated in the event which raised money for new homes being built for 9 families.  Kathleen and Jody spent the day framing out one house and landscaping another that is almost ready to move into.  "It was a very rewarding experience" says Jody, "We worked side by side with the future owners and 50 other women to help make their dreams come true." Working on behalf of GNY, their team "The Screaming Monkey's" was the #1 fundraiser, collecting over $1800 for the cause.

  Margaret G. Klein honored by The Brehon Law Society

On March 10, 2010 Margaret G. Klein was honored by The Brehon Law Society at its 2010 St. Patrick's Day Dinner held at The Manhattan Club. Margaret was lauded for her accomplishments as a lawyer in New York since 1984 after emigrating from Ireland a few years earlier. The Society recognized Margaret as having set the precedent in 1982 for Irish solicitors, admitted to practice law in the Republic of Ireland, to take the New York Bar exam. It was noted that when she began to practice law in New York, the overwhelming majority of lawyers were men. Margaret was recognized for many years of success as a defense trial attorney, beginning with Fireman's Fund Insurance Company, then with Crum & Forster and now with Greater New York Mutual Insurance Company, where she is Attorney of Record and Vice President of Legal.

GNY is dedicated to serving its communities. In 2009 alone, it supported a wide range of important causes, including: Alliance for Lupus Research, ALS Association, Booker T. Washington Learning Center, Brigham and Women’s Hospital, Find-a-Cure for Children with Duchene, National Multiple Sclerosis Society, New York Insurance Association Scholarship, Parker Jewish Institute Foundation, Police Athletic League, St. Baldrick’s Foundation, The Griffith Insurance Education Foundation, UJA Federation of New York, Washington Legal Foundation.

GNY Employee Volunteers to Instruct Karate
Philip Wu is one of many instructors that teach Seido Karate at the Young Adult Institute (YAI), a health and human services agency serving people with various mental and learning disabilities. Founded over 20 years ago, the Seido Karate YAI program develops members with increased confidence, greater self-awareness, physical conditioning and a dedicated environment of inclusion. Philip has been involved with this program since 1999. Philip is a Renewal Underwriter and has been with GNY 3 years.
